30 Aug Poor watches at Blom-one + Gazebo, dinner at Red House with Pam + the Griffins.
31 Aug Very successful watch at 1500. Talked to Nancy, played mandolin with Andrew Griffin.
1 Sept Decent watch at School Hill, reading, bugs, swimming.
The usual
2-4 sept Berkeley, returning pm for bugs. Truffles at the Griffins.
5 Sept Successful watch for Juv dominance at 1500, then took the rest of the day off, more or less, reading, sorting bugs, mandolin playing.
6 Sept Nice, but long + tiring hike up to Junipera Serra with Jim. In the burned Sugar Pine-Culter Pine forest at the summit, saw Brown Creeper! Red Breasted (4) and White Breasted (1) Nuttatch, Audubon's warbler (5). (including juvs), Hermit Warbler (3), Wilson's warbler (2), Black-throated Gray warbler (1), Hairy Woodpecker (6)! (all around burned forest), Plain Titmouse (5) Downy woodpecker (1), and one very lonely, Narriting Acorn Woodpecker (no granaries seen). On way up, many AW, mountain quail (10) Golden Eagle (1), Canyon lures (3)
7 Sept Sorted bugs, helped the Hardys fell a dead Monterey Pine next to the Davis', calm + cloudy.
8 Sept A nice change of pace day: overcast with occasional light rain. Watched with partial success at Buckeye, then took my copy of D.S. Wilson up Madone Canyon to read & explore. Found a dear kill (mountain lion, perhaps?) visited Chongo + Chongo springs Wejd Birthday party for Claude
