(16 May) lots of Plaque-watching, adding sawdust to their refurbished nest hole, first HNHR Brown Creeper on PO Hill, a big magpie-crow fight by the bunkhouse (over an early-fledged magpie nestling), and roosting at Plaque. Afterwards, Nancy & I met Pam & Walter at Will's for dessert, then champagne and a good talk at Red House. Much fun.
17 May OK day. Nice hot weather. More boring Plaque-watching, plus a check on School Hill. The latter looks serious about nesting in the Blue Oak, and I even reopened the hole up there, climbing up to the hole without a rope ladder. While watching at Plaque, I even saw a life bird, a MacGillivray's Warbler in the dense shrubbery outside of Linsdales old office. Roosting at Plaque, where I saw nothing!
18 May A pretty good day! Plaque finally looks serious about nesting in the cleaned up Blue Oak old nest hole. Also,
I'm lucky enough to discover School Hill hot at it with one fresh egg in the Blue Oak hole! Watched them a lot in the late afternoon for behavior (Roosting, too). Called Steve Jones [to cancel my scheduled German exam] Russ Judy, and Pete Myers.
19 May More School Hill & Plaque watches on a very summer-like day. Had the privilege of watching egg-laying at School Hill, and got some fairly good data on "packing" in the core birds there.
20 May A quickie nest watch at Road 1, egg-laying at School Hill, more frustration at Plaque. Roosting once again at School Hill.
