1980 R.L. Mumme 10 Journal Hastings Reservation (25 April) by a bad watch at School Hill, then good group and nest watches at [illegible] Road 1, where I also watched roosting. Found the Oriole nest at Road 1, and when we let a mouse out of [illegible] trap (accidentally) by the shed, a Scrub Jay pounced on it immediately. Neato! Steve + Melinda Pruett-Jones arrive tonight. 26 April A pretty eventful day, overall. First, Steve + Melinda found the water-tank Hill Cooper's Hawk nest in less than 5 hours. Steve climbed up, finding 5 eggs, with the F incubating. Up there in that draw were a Orange-crowned Warbler nest (4 eggs) and a Junco nest (4 eggs). In the afternoon, at School Hill, they found a Red-tailed Hawk nest and a Great-Horned Owl nest. Impressive! I, meanwhile, watched poorly at Low Hay, OK at Road 1, checked holes on the School Hill helped Walt check the nest at Finch (4 babies, two un-hatched eggs), watched roosting at Road 1. Suzie Morse, Cindy (?), and Rob Robicheaux here on field trip. Nice talk after dinner with Nancy, Suzie, Gwen. 27 April 1st day on daylight savings time, and I mostly wasted it. Fooled around on the Arnold, then sort of "reorganized my personal affairs" and caught a short nest watch at Road 1, where I also watched roosting. 28 April A pretty rainy day. I managed to sneak in a few hours at Road 1, then went into town with Nancy + Gwen in the PM. Going away party for the Pattons at the Griffins. 29 April Halfway decent weather for a change, after a little morning rain, I watched at Plaque and 1800 before (chagrín!) discovering
