(20 April) the afternoon, I had a much more routine morning watch at Road 1 in the early morning, and after a long (and well-deserved, I might add) nap, the rain pretty much wiped out the rest of the day.
21 April An absolutely wretched day, cold, rainy, especially in the afternoon. All I did was check some holes in the morning, then watch it rain in the afternoon, letting Road 1 go by the boards. Dessert in the bunkhouse with Jim Patton. Even snow on Cheys Ridge.
22 April A brief respite from the rain to watch at Road 1 in the Am and sketch 15 minutes at Plaques. After that it was rain, rain, rain. Guitar & mandolin jam with Gary and running (up to the 270 mile marker) in the afternoon with Gwen, Nancy, Sherry & Gary.
23 April A misty, foggy day with constant rain. I did manage to watch some at Road 1, remaining high and dry in the car, watching the nest. Pam Wait returned from Berkeley, bringing my mail which included, among other things, an overdue book notice and a bounced check. Thanks alot.
24 April Finally, a decent day.. Caught a little Plaques action in the morning, showed Su-dy the nest at Gazebo, watched at Lower Haystack, helped check the nests at Road 1 (8 eggs! a record!) and Road 3 (3 healthy babies, 1 runt, one infertile egg). Checked the nest at School Hill, watched roosting at Bacheys Wilson's Nashville Townsendi Warblers
25 April A search for the Long-eared Owls frequenting Wickerhill trickle produced many flushings but no good looks. That was followed
