1980 R.L. Mumme 7 Journal Hastings Reservation (10 April) at School Hill, Lower Haystack, Plaque, opened the nest at Road 3, Roosting at Gazebo with Sandy, Brownsies at Red House after dinner. Berkeley tomorrow, after watching at Plaque, Barn Swallow, Black-throated Gray Warblers, etc. Golden Eagle near Plaque. 11 April Quick watch at Plaque in the Am, then Berkeley 13 April Returned from Berkeley at 1300. Watched at Plaque for a few hours, in a Blue Fust. Dinner in the Bunkhouse for the first time with Gwen, Sandy & Nancy. 14 April A pretty dismal day. A poor watch at Plaque in the morning, followed by a poor watch at School Hill, an interesting watch at School Hill west, a lousy watch at Road 1, then another bad watch at Plaque. At Plaque in the afternoon, I saw these two wretched looking characters walk across Buckeye Hill, stop at the granary, fool with the ambush set up there, then walk off with Walters L backpack, rope ladder, and other stuff. There followed frantic runs up Buckeye, calls to the sheriff, etc., Plus, Robbie Solz arrived today. The only high point was finding a quail nest at School Hill West, plus some a near fledging Juncos, 15 April A much better day. Good watch at Plaque on Hay, a bad watch at Road 1, a quail nest field trip, poor watches at School Hill west* School Hill, Roosting at School Hill, dinner, and a good champagne Chocolate Cake party at Red House.
