Came down here on a rainy, overcast day with Larry Hanks
and Nancy Joste. An exciting week, with the Phude
body being found Monday, and Jimmy Bell in the
hospital today. I tried to watch at Blom-one in the
afternoon, but all I did was chase cows, much to the
amusement of Larry. Dinner at Rod House.

A field excursion here with Walter, Nancy + Larry on a
day with intermittent rain. Despite the rain, the trip
proved to be very interesting, Acorn-Woodpecker-wise.
It seems that the situation there is exactly
the same as at Hastings: (1) The fall 1979 Acorn
crop was outstanding, with excellent Quercus lobata
