25 May
Two unbanded ♂♂ and an apparently unbanded ♀ up here at 1640. Some drumming, a few garricks from one of the ♂♂. The two ♂♂ poked around in the N-facing hole in the dead Blue Oak, one entering it completely for a few seconds.
22 June
In passing here, 2 birds flew down the ravine from out of the dead Blue Oak at 1220.
In passing again at 1515, 2 birds, one ♂, one ♀, both I think unbanded, flycatching from Blue Oak.
23 June
Watched roosting here. Two birds went into the "valley oak hole" that has been opened, downhill toward the ravine from the dead Blue Oak.
24 June
Walt set an ambush here, but the birds apparently didn't like the looks of it and flew off to apparently roost elsewhere.
7 July
Walt and I successfully ambushed these birds, one ♂ + one female. For bands, see field list. Both screamed alarm calls quite a bit, and I certainly couldn't tell any difference offhand.
24 Aug
Start watch 1020. While at Bianca, I saw two birds hanging around the dead Blue Oak. Walking up, I saw an ad ♂, and later another adult plus juv 497 Metal/Black-Red from Black Oak! Don't know what he's up to. He was sitting in the Blue Oak granary. 1105 Chase! 2 ad ♂♂ here, plus a third bird ♂ chases other ♂. 1120 Things are pretty confusing. Now ♂123 DBlue/LBlue-Orange/DBlue Metal from Bianca - Arnold 3 here in Blue Oak.
