1979 Ronald L. Mumme Melanerpes formicivorus School Hill Hastings Reservation 19 Sept A pretty good nest watch here: details on back. 16 Nov Walked up here at 1500, and immediately flushed the two fall babies, [illegible] 523 DBlue/white-DBlue DGreen-BPink(in)/white and 524 , out of the trees at the northern end of the field. 1520, M86 LPink/Metal flies in + perches in the main perch in the Valley Oak. 1600, M86 still there, and a F, which I'm certain is F260 by facepattern, perched in the VO just uphill from the enclosure. A baby squee-trtr from the upper Yellow/DPink VO within tho enclosure. 1605, M402 flies to where M86 is, some weak wakas. M402 has acorn. J523 flies to him and starts to beg. M402 flies to "the other" perch 2 meters away, places acorn in anvil. Nothing happens. Complete gasus, so end 1620.
