24 May Took a nest watch up here for 2 1/2 hours this afternoon, details on reverse. ♀260 did most of the incubating, and I never did see ♂86 go to the nest during the watch. ♂402 didn't do a whole lot.
When I returned for roosting, ♂86 entered the nest at 2005 before flying out at 2035,
[illegible] Lots of shifting, flying in and out of the nest late, and I never saw a bird actually roost. Might have missed it.
25 May Another nest watch up here in the morning, not realizing that the tape recorder was fouled up. A more or less wasted 2 1/2 hours. My general impression was that ♀260 incubated fairly steadily, and although ♂402 + ♂68 did take short bouts, their contribution was much smaller.
At roosting, one bird in the nest, at least one bird at the low (Blue Oak) hole, and no birds in the middle (Valley Oak) hole.
1 Sept This morning an "intensive" group watch here. Yesterday Walt found evidence of the first fall nest, 2 eggs in the regular old Valley Oak nest hole. With egg laying in progress, here are my notes:
0612: Nest checked, 2 eggs. Nobody roosted in nest.
* 0716: ♀260 enters nest, stays [illegible] seconds, leaves. Large bulge (egg?)
