Road 3 Hastings Reservation
16 July Here just for a few seconds in the morning, just long
enough to see juv. 491 (Green/DBLue-Yellow(\Lambda) and
?383 Yellow-?Green/yellow, Yellow-? Green/Metal.
17 July Also here briefly, 1730-1830. However, saw both
babies 490+491, ?265 DBLue/Yellow-L Blue,
? 446 L Blue-Red/Red-L Blue, and ?383. Birds
really seen attached to the valley Oak toward Finch
from the granary. Also seen to be doing some sapsucking
from Live Oaks (again,) up on PO Hill, but I'll
have to check on that some more
18 July Watching here at at Finch from hide, simultaneously, 1100
Black-Yellow/Red (juv. 490) fed insect by ?68.
Both juv. (490+491, ?383, ?448, ?68 here
?265 also, 1125, ?68 feeds 490 again, insects.
End 1140. Birds hanging out in the valley Oak in between
the granary and Finch Creek. The oak is very close to
Finch territory, because where I set up the hide (N side
of road) I can watch Rd 3 and Finch birds ('in a sycamore,
50 m from Road 3 Oak), Rd 3 birds doing some
sapsucking in at least 2 of the Live Oaks (what else?)
around the Valley Oak. Anna's hummingbirds around, too.
Back here at 1730. First thing I saw a bird do was to harvest a
very tiny Live Oak Acorn. 2 ?'s charrat flicher at 1745.
1747, ?444 confirmed here, completing census except for
?184 who I might have seen earlier. ?444 I saw at road 1
two days earlier, Yessir!! ?184 white-Black/Black white OK!!
?1800, ?68 feeds juv. 490! Complete census! End 1810.
