Buckeye Hastings Reservation
(13 July) granary, where some adults were walking (or at least in that direction. After his departure, the nest was empty, leading me to wonder if both babies did indeed fledge. The last several days it had always seemed like only one nestling was in the nest. I'll have to look for babies up here to find out.
14 July Starting a group watch from the granary at 0645 ♀ Metal/L Blue, L Blue/White-Red (????) shows up in granary at 0825. Drums briefly, so at first I think her an intruder, but she stays, and walks to ♂424 when he comes to the granary for stored insects. She definitely belongs here, but I don't know who she is (She also is in wing molt). Have to check with walk later. Perhaps another old Chongo-ite, the old breeding ♀?
We'll see. Drums again at 0840. Preening, panting in granary, one flycatching sortie, 0845, ♂424 back, ♀ flied to him, both walk she assuming hunched posture, ♂252 here now also, extracts acorn.
Holy Bananas!! The ♀ here is the Plaque ♀482! What the hell is going on?? It sure looks like she owns the place. She was banded last year at Plaque (or earlier this year). 0900, Things getting more confusing all the time. ♀483 Red-DBlue appears on the scene, and I think she might have chased mildly ♀482, Say, I just noticed the similarity in numbers, Did the Plaque ♀ originate from Buckeye? That might
