1979 Ronald L. Mumme 4 Journal Hastings Reservation, Monterey Co., CA 18 Nov watched at Buckeye in the morning and got a good census. Returned to Berkeley, leaving alone about 1400. 22 Nov Thanksgiving, and I left Berkeley about 1030, arriving here 1400. Collected and sorted a few yellow pan bugs. Very still, warm afternoon. Heavy overcast, a few raindrops. Light rain as Walter, Pam + I have dinner at the Davises, with Ruth Griffin. Very pleasant. 23 Nov Went up to the Arnold with Walter where I accomplished almost nothing, then watched at Road 3. Worked on 200109 term paper in the evening. 24 Nov A little term-paper work, Plaque watching, and Mono Lake birding in the morning. Cal Thrasher, Purple Finch, Fox sparrow, were the good Hastings birds. ALSO sapsucker, Lark Sparrow, Song Sparrow, Say's Phoebe, etc. After Lunch, Walt + I met Dave Winkler, Suzanne Morse, David Gaines, and at Pt Pinos as part of The Mono Lake Big Day. I saw two new birds, Surfbird and Elegant Tern. Also Marbled Godwit Whistel, Black Oystercatcher, Black Turnstone, Ruddy Turnstone Willet, Sanderling, Brandt's Cormorant, Brown Pelican. After short time there, we explored Robinson Canyon, seeing Bufflehead, Ruddy Duck, Coot, Green Heron, Ring-necked Duck
