1979 Ronald L. Mumme Journal 38 Hastings Reservation, Monterey County, CA 13 Sept Leave for Berkeley. Flat tire enroute 14-15 sept Berkeley 16 Sept Returned from Berkeley around noon. Picked up the bags and weighed last weeks. Dinner with Pam and Walter at Red House. 17 Sept Setup Acorn traps with Walter in the morning, putting some on the Arnold (3 black oak, one golden oak) and two by Road 3 (both golden Oak). Nancy returned from visiting her Grandmother in Taft around noon. We made peanut butter cookies in the afternoon before I watched the nest at School Hill. After dinner, a fun "goodbye Nancy" end of-the-summer party at Red House. Champagne, cookies, cake, etc. 18 Sept Nancy leaves today!! (Boo-hoo!) More acorn trap business on the Arnold and Madrone Canyon. After lunch, I cleaned up the bunkhouse a bit, sorted some bugs, checked the holes at Buckeye, then went up to Red House for Pizza and dessert. 19 Sept My last day at the Reservation (sob!); At least I accomplished something by finding a Plaque fall nest (shock)! Otherwise, I weighed bugs, watched the School Hill nest, and packed up and cleaned up. Sorry to be leaving. 20 sept Left for Berkeley at 0700. 26 Oct Finally back for a visit, arriving at 1600. Helped band the fall babies at Road 3 with Walter, then a nice dinner with Pam + Walter at Red House. About a half inch of rain had fallen the previous day, and the
