(6 July) activities, but I did get a pretty good census of the group. After an afternoon watch at Buckeye, had a great lasagne dinner up at Hastings Cabin with Larry, Nancy & Barbara. Superb! Roost watched at Arnold 3, as Walt watched an ambush set at Lower Arnold 2.
7 July Another successful Ambush!! Two unbanded birds at Lower Arnold 2 are now suitably decorated. Later in the morning I watched at Road 3 and Finch for babies, slept some, then cruised over to Blomone to look for basics, checking (and seeing no birds) at Y and "Son of MacRoberts." A nice burrito dinner with Nancy & Larry at the cabin, followed by roosting at the Arnold. Walt had set an ambush at Arnold 3, and they were already in the hole when we got there. Three in a row,?? Dare I say it,?? We'll see tomorrow. Also took notes on Black Phoebe nest and Mountain Quail today.
8 July An unprecedented three straight successful ambushes!! Today, the new ♂ at Arnold 3 joined the ranks of the banded birds. Later, I watched the nest at Buckeye, before sleeping a bit after lunch. Ron DeBry showed up briefly, then I went on an "insect tour" with Larry. A great dinner at the cabin, featuring a rich chocolate cake, and fine company from Larry, Nancy, Walt & Pam.
9 July Took the day off as far as ambushing goes, but I watched at Buckeye in the morning, sorted bugs with
