28 June watch in the morning, and then Buckeye also was kind enough to generate some data for me (see group notes). Watched roosting at Buckeye and had a beautiful sunset as I walked down from there in the twilight.
29 June An outstanding watch at Buckeye in the morning,
followed by a zero watch at Black Oak (high winds,
no nest visits. I also did the Arnold hole circuit,
seeing nothing. Roosting watches were canceled as
Walt and Pam had Nancy, Larry, & I up for an
excellent ribs dinner. Very good food & company.
30 June On this last day of June, I tried to watch up
at Black Oak, but the young hare (I think)
already fledged. A nest watch at Lower Haystack
and roosting at Buckeye finished up the day.
1 July Watched at Lower Haystack in the AM, then
tried to look for the Plague Babies in the late afternoon,
without success. I did poke around in the oak trees
of Plague, and saw a lot of "baby" acorns on trees.
All the valley Oaks looked loaded, a few of the Lives,
and even some Blue Oaks had acorns. Roosting at
Buckeye.
2 July Once again I searched for the elusive Plague babies, and
again I struck out. However, I did find what may be a
new group west of MacRoberts (see ? ? notes). A nest watch
at Lower Haystack turned out OK, and on the way down
at 1630, I saw two adult Barn Swallows perched
