Very large numbers of Pintail, Wigeon, Shoveler, plus 4 more Cinnamon Teal, 4 Ring-necked Ducks, 50 Long-billed Dowitcher, 4 Common Gallinule, 1 Virginia Rail, 200 Sandhill Crane, 10 Whistling Swans, Am Coots., 2 Am. Bitterns, 3 Great Egrets, 3 Great Blue Herons, 1 White-tailed Kite, 1 Sora. 27 Jan CALIFORNIA, Alameda Co. Berkeley Aquatic Park -- 0800-1200, clear, 40-55° F. winds 5-10 mph. Glen Third Zoo 107A Field Trip. I saw two life birds, three Mew Gulls plus about 50 Greater Scaup. Also saw Com. Goldeneye (25), Bufflehead (20) Canvasback (5) Pintail (7), Mallard (2), Ruddy Duck (50, 90% ♂) Red-breasted Merganser (3 ♀♀), Greater Yellowlegs (3), Am. Avocet (40), Snowy Egret (20), Black-crowned Night Herons (15), Great Egret (3), Long-billed Dowitcher (30). 17-20 Feb CALIFORNIA, Monterey Co. Hastings Reservation Had a very pleasant weekend at HNWR, including a party at Red House with Walt, Pam, Peter Lois Meyers, Jim & carol Patton, John & Betty Davis, Dave Winkler & Christine, Paul Sherman, et al. Didn't see much Acorn Woodpecker wise, but on 20 Feb we did walk up Poison Oak Hill to find all granaries empty, and no birds present. Grass was beginning to green up (lots of young shoots) a few shooting stars on PO Hill, a few trickles of water in the creeks. Many Hutton's Vireos around, one Varied Thrush Swallows. 1 Say's Phoebe, 20 Cedar Waxwings, 10 W. Bluebirds, 5 Violet-Green
