1978 Ronald L. Mumme 7 Journal FLORIDA, Hillsborough County, Tampa 30 Dec On the Tampa Christmas Bird Count with Ed Caldwell, John Post, Stu Santos, and Susan Cox. We covered the USF Eco Area, USF Golf course, and Fletcher Ave. and what was left of the sparrow fields around Greco JHS. We did not do well as the wind was very strong in the late morning on. Partly cloudy + warm. The only worthwhile bird we saw was a Whip-poor- will, which we flushed at the border of Buck Hammock. It flew to a horizontal limb of an oak and perched, allowing us to study it leisurely for several minutes. good Other birds seen were short-billed Marsh Wren, Bachman's sparrow, Grasshopper Sparrow, Hermit Thrush.
