Aug. 16 Ejido Constitucion, Avenda Espinoza del Rio, Chignahuapan, Mexico (sat.)
... just. Hareolina walliceps and a Craugastor loki. There was
an enormous tree w/ a cave-like entrance to a huge hollow interior
w/ lots of fungus inside (super cool). I got 2 C. albopaki climbing
up the buttresses of the outside of the tree; one was ~2m off
the ground on a vertical surface. Have never seen Craugastor
dials - looks like the big tree pools work. Walked back slowly,
arriving in camp at 23:30; I saw a B. rufescens and a
couple Craugastor loki (didn't collect while Jorge + Omar saw
nothing more). One of the guys from the ranch had joined us but
saw nothing all night, It was cloudy + misty by the time
we got back.
Aug. 17 Wake up late; after lunch, got ready to search but rain threatened
so we prepared specimens. Started to rain heavily in afternoon,
stopped after dinner. We searched from 21:15-00:15 in forest
across path from camp, I got 2 Anilisa bradshii + 1
A cyanotica or leaves + saw 5 B. rufescens. Jorge + Omar got
a juvenile Batrachuperaper (I think) and saw a few more
B. rufescens; also saw 2 [illegible] thrindle
rana in the road.
It was drizzling and foggy while we searched and rained
briefly; not much activity as we gave up.
