Cerro Boqueron, Mpio. Metzitlan, Chiapas, Mexico (cont.)
June 23
Bolbopsa franklini nigrofascians in a tree hole cavity ~ 2.5m off the ground.
Divia got 2 Bif. nigrofascians on leaves. We searched here from 09:15-01:00, then headed back down. At the stream where I got the Thamnophis, I saw something jump across the path. Turned out to be a Plotosphylo anis - the first one I've ever seen. The cascade/rock wall above the path along the stream seem like a good place for Plotoshylo - might have come from there. Went to sleep around 02:00.
June 24
Went out w/ our usual guide's son (clasic) on trail up Cerro Boqueron at 10:45. It was sunny, warm + clear and papules were out. We got 4 male Andis crosses on the way up, plus many females we let go. Got 4 bright green Xalopus in woodpiles at the clearing where the forest begins, plus a big M. muselittii. One of the kids found a Bolbogosa flavomembrig along the path. We continued down a path towards El Plarenjo, the next village downhill. Forest was only broadleaf and looked very disturbed; wood had been cut + understory looked secondary in many places. Found a Thamnophis along path, then walked up hill and back to where we had started along a wide trail/cleared area that I think marks the limit of Boqueron. Got 2 Coraphidus at tracking and a B. flavomembris in a log.
Forest up here looked a little shetter and has some pine trees. Found a B. franklini nigrofascians that Divia said was partially poking its head out from a hole under a rock along the path. Stopped searching around 16:00 and walked back to village. Not ready to prep specimens, did a few, made dinner, and left again at 22:30.
