Rovito, Sean 2011 Journal Nevada de Colima, Jalisco, Mexico Oct. 25 We went back to the area where I had finished searching yesterday afternoon and looked from 10:45-12:45; Jorge + Omar kept searching until ~13:15 since they found a great area right before our arranged meeting time. I went a little further downhill and got into more open, drier oak forest w/ some large agaves. Focused in deep leaf litter along road, which looked good but produced only some Plestiodon; also opened a bunch of trees. Then went back down into canyon on S side of road + looked in logs and deep wet leaf litter, especially along the canyon bottom. Found 1 Gecko in leaf litter. After waiting for Jorge + Omar, we spent an hour trying to get the truck back up the steep slope, with lots of pushing. Afraid like only one wheel would spin and we had to leave it there. Ted went back to camp and the rest of us walked ~5km downhill to a small town. The road to the town was blocked by several landslides + totally washed out at the bottom; in town, they said all the damage was caused by a hurricane 2 weeks ago. Also said the area where we searched today partially burned in either January or May, and that the road we walked down is "La Cuchilla" and where we camped is on the "Covito de los Pinos" road. A man with a tractor gave us a ride back (took ~1hr), and then got the truck out after almost getting stuck himself. Given that we hadn't seen anything out at night, we decided to call it a day.
