Karlo, Dear 2011 Journal Nolin Duchilan Heights, Juntapa, Australia (cont.) Aug. 23 ... We walked the same trail up to the ridge, leaving at 20:45 and searching until 22:55. Found 2 more adult B. suchilensis, 1 on ground in cloud forest + 1 on fern just aboveground in scrubby secondary vegetation. Also saw 4 juveniles (collected 2), all on leaves < 50cm above ground. I felt totally exhausted and decided to stop searching despite favorable conditions. This salamander seems abundant here, but other herps do not. Aug. 24 Woke up feeling sick; after breakfast, slept until 10:00. Photographed and prepped specimens, then walked w/ Ricardo to "La Piedra", a large rocky point near what I think is the center of Nolin Duchilan. We searched along the way + I got an adult B. suchilensis under a small piece of bark. I felt exhausted all day and didn't have the energy to go back to the forest at night, so I searched in a tiny cattle pond (3x5m) in a field next to our camp. Heard Bufo calling but only got 2 tiny juveniles; also found a Baras looked in stream coming from spring just below camp + wondered why there were no frogs & tadpoles until I saw how abundant crabs were (some quite big). Started raining really hard around 11:15; my stuff was outside tent since Ricardo didn't bring a tent + is sharing w/ me. Lots of stuff got wet and a river formed under tent - should have taken the time to build a drainage trench, since it was clearly going to rain. Aug. 25 Spent morning prepping specimens. After lunch, walked up to second pasture along trail to La Piedra hoping to get some more Andis. Ricardo found a large Cratalus simus under a bunch of grass, which I collected with some
