Ivito, Dear 2009 Journal Jan.13 La Cumbre, Montanas de Cuico, Depto. Huchuetengo, Guatemala (cont.) ...The adult B. linckii that clive seen from here are unusual in that their dorsal coloration is somewhat yellow-orange rather than the bright red seen elsewhere. This species seems extremely variable in coloration. We got 1 more B. linckii and 2 more B. morio (in bromeliads, I think) and then had to head back to La Democracia to deal with export permits. The area was quite wet and it seems to have rained last night, which could explain our relatively low success with bromeliads. The weather today was cool and very misty. Jan.14 Yalambajoch to Huetenergo, Depts. Huchuetengo, Guatemala We packed up this morning and left Yalambajoch. Carlos and cl pulled out the pitfall traps at Finca clxcarsan and got a live Brodrytriton and 3 dead shrews. It rained heavily last night which must have brought them out. The Brodrytriton must be abundant here, considering that we caught 1 in only 5 small pitfalls with no drift fences. The rest of the group returned to Huehue by way of Pantor while Carlos, Ted and cl drove to the Brodrytriton cuchumatanus type locality near San Juan clxcay. We were denied permission to enter by the people who live there, and it didn't seem open to negotiation. We drove on to Huchuetengo, having wasted several hours driving, where we all spent the night.
