Color in life - Pseudemys cf. mergeri 10/26/10 Dorsum nearly uniform dark greyish brown also top of head. Very faint, indistinct interorbital band. Caudal dorsal surface same color as back, with several medium grey lichen-like blotches extending from lateral surface. Paired, faint brown elongated blotches extending ~2 fold's trade from insertion of hind limbs; Dorsal surface of limbs same as back. Feet light brown with white flecks covering interior 1/2 of foot (digits #1-3) Upper labial surface + slit w/ scattered white flecks. Lateral surfaces of body brown (same as dorsum) above midline, covered w/ pale brownish-grey flecks below midline; this coloration extends from mouth to insertion of hind limbs. Lower labial surfaces slate grey w/ scattered white flecks. Lateral surfaces of tail brown (like dorsum) above midline slate grey fleck with multiple large brownish grey lichen-like blotches, and grey flecks on lower half. Reddish brown area at posterior part of insertion of hind limbs (just behind legs. Rostrum light grey w/ pale grey flecks. Ventral surface slate grey w/ scattered pale grey flecks, becoming less numerous on tail and more numerous in gular region to insertion of forelimbs. Underside of legs same color, underside of feet solid grey, Toe tips reddish-grey (pale)
