Sept. 27
Cerro Jesterpe, E of Puerto del Halls, Alvarado, Mexico (cont).
... as we drive uphill; I think 2950m is more accurate for this site based on the map. Found 2 more adult L. thalricus on the bank nearby; one climbing up grass near top of bank + other one on dirt ~1.5m above road. On all, searched at night from ~20:15-22:45. Drive back to crest of road on Cerro Jesterpe and searched roadbank for 15min, but saw nothing. Spent night at police station in Puerto del Halls.
Sept. 28
Puerto del Halls to Atoyac, Alvarado, Mexico
Spent morning prepping specimens; left Puerto del Halls at 13:30. Drive to a cafetal 13.7km (by rd) NE of El ParaĆso and searched in lots of good logs from 15:30-17:30. Found many small Graugaster but nothing else; rained for first half hour of searching. Drive to Atoyac and got a room at the Hotel Alameda, then went back out after dinner.
Found a Trimorphoder tau with a Stenosauris sticking out of its stomach and a leptodery (both DDR) at the trash dump on the edge of town, along with a Buer. Stopped 17km from entrance to Atoyac and searched for 30min; found an Andis and a green and brown skuld (both on vegetation along road). Drive back to a point 15.1km from Atoyac and searched for ~40min. I found a Lampyretia triangulum on the roadbank, a Graugaster (Hylectrophryne) augusti in a cavity on the bank, and 2 Elutherodactylus (Leptodactylus) on leaves ~30cm off the ground. Cttique got a Hylinotrichius Fleischmanni along a stream. Caught an Anolisa Laudinii ~2m off the ground in a tree on the way back, 11.1km from town.
