San Joaquin area, Gueretaro, Mexico
Aug. 23 Spent part of the morning taking photos & drying out equipment.
Drove to San Joaquin and went to see Renos archaeological site.
Looked around under rocks & logs at the site, which was surrounded
by rice oak forest. Found several Plestiodon and a small colubrid
snake that looked like a Storeria. Searched in the woods below the
village of Agua de Venado for ~1hr; found 3 Leptophis latifrontalis
under rocks & logs. Drove on the road out from San Joaquin to the
SE, then turned off on dirt road to San Juan Entramadas. Searched
for ~30 min along road in pretty good oak forest. Jean found
a Leptophis latifrontalis under a rock and I got a big
Pseudoeurycea cephalica under a stone next to a rock wall.
Drove back to OF, arriving late.
El Asledero, Carrizal de Bravo, Guerrero, Mexico

Chilpancingo. Went ~14km S of Mazatlan on the free highway to Acapulco,
turned off on road to Acahuitztlan. Searched on limestone gravels for
~1.5 hr; found lots of Phyllobactylus, and a big Sceloporus. Tom got
a Mabuya. Went towards town & stopped along a roadside ditch w/
lots of grass & weeds. I got a Dendropsophus (heard lots) + 2 Andis, Tom
got a Leptodactylus. Started to rain moderately hard; looked on road
cuts briefly, then drove back to CA95. Found a Syrrhopus, a
Pachymedusa, and 2 other frogs we couldn't catch (I probably a Smilisca)
before returning to Chilpancingo. Searched ~20:00-24:00. Today, drove
to Carrizal de Bravo's and talked to people who let us collect and
stay at Asledero, the type locality for several species. Started searching
