Final de Andes area, Durango, Mexico
Aug. 22 Drive down from La Trinidad to Xilitla and then on to Final de Andes. Stopped at Campo Santo, 1 km E of town, and searched from [illegible] 15:45-16:35. Found 1 juvenile Pseudowrycea lollie + 1 Elephus under stone along a mossy rock wall in the pine forest + another juven P. lollie under a small piece of wood. Drive E to road up to Microondas de Pinjico and searched in oak forest from 17:00-17:30. Focused mostly on road bank but found my Delgasy; I got a male Pseudowrycea cephalica under a piece of bark. Weather was cool and misty. Drive up to microondas, where it was cold, windy and rainy. Searched under rocks along road from 18:30-19:00 and found 3 tiny P. lollie (2 under park rock) as well as several Delgasyus and Pleistider. Went back out after [illegible] dark in light to moderately strong rain, very strong wind; temperature dropped considerably (perhaps to 14-15°C). Searched from ~20:45-22:15. Found 2 small adult P. lollie, 1 on mossy bank + 1 in a hole. Also found a Chiropterotinus out on a rocky section of bank - has a very short snout, dark brown color, relatively small body + short tail, looks somewhat like the C. chordeostage we got in NW Los Marmedes, but it could be something different. Conditions got too windy + rainy so we gave up searching. Habitat here is open pine woodland w/ agave and what look like ericaceous shrubs in the understory; rocks in roadbank appear to be slate.
