Color notes on Pseudoryzomys sp. - Huttwood SMR893
dorsum dark chocolate brown w/o any spots or markings
sides of body (roughly at midline) mostly light gray (mottled)
with brown speckles throughout - same on gula surface back
to gular fold and on side and ventral surface of tail - + underside
of limbs
venter dark brown w/ very small grey specks
dorsal surface of limbs same color as dorsum
feet brown w/ some light gray speckles above, brown below
nose has grey speckles, as do "eyebrows" which are mostly grey
sup is dark brown (iris)
Dorsal color on tail changes gradually from dark chocolate brown
to medium brown at tip
variation (SMR894) - venter is gray (like very tiny grey dots
on dark brown background) w/ very dark brown splashes
on sides + at base of tail, between ventral + lateral grey
coloration
several (5) lichen-like pale orange-brown blotches on dorsum
lighter brown dorsal side compared to SMR893, still lightens toward
tip of tail. Almost no gray color above eye
