June 15 Reserva Nectandra, San Ramon, Alajuela, Costa Rica
Woke up early today to go see Jim in the hospital. He was OK but the bite had become infected. He and Susan went to San Jose to have it taken care of while I carried on with the survey.
Was exhausted today-slept only 2-3 hrs last night. Fixed specimens in the morning and early afternoon. On the evening, I searched on trail A from 18:15-26:15. Found a Flabellina hyloformis coming out of a bromeliad on the ground. Saw 3 Espadarana gracilipes at near pond + 1 along a stream. Saw a Craugastor latyginii + 2 C. crossignus, all on the ground, and 2 Pristimantis cuentus on leaves 1.5-2m off the ground. I heard several frogs (hybrids, I think) along streams that I don't think we've collected yet, but I'm not sure what they are and was unable to locate them. The day was cloudy with rain in the afternoon and early evening, clearing up later.
June 16 In the morning, I talked w/ David for a while, then went to La Persea, the property across the street from Nectandra that the Benettes purchased last December. I was told the Cepidia I have (SMR1110) came from under a chunk of concrete in an old sidewalk they ripped up. I searched under chunks of concrete for ~30min and got 2 Lepidoblepharis xanthostigma, also saw an A. limbros and an A. humilis, as well as several other anoles I couldn't ID.
I found a Craugastor brafordi under a rock. Walked the trail around La Persea for ~40min but saw nothing more. At 15:30, Luis Nilo and Marino came from San Ramon to accompany
