anto, Sean 2010 Journal Reserva Nectandra, San Ramon, Alajuela, Costa Rica (cont.) June 12 ... into a cow pasture, where we saw/heard a large number of Amiskis phaeota along the stream. Also found several Craspedota litzingeri and Rana warszawitschii. Walked back across fence into Nectandra and cl found a Nototriton (gamezi?) out on a very mossy tree on the edge of the forest, ~1.5m off the ground. Was a little surprised- low elevation+ forest edge seemed like a bad combination but misty wind hits trees on forest edge directly, so this area was very mossy. Continued along path N edge of reserve and saw 2 R. warszawitschii, 2 P. corventus, and a C. litzingeri. Susan found a big Sphenomorphus chieriei at the base of a tree, which we had perhaps disturbed from its hiding place. We walked along the fence line for a few hundred meters, then took trail #45 to southern limit of reserve. On the southern fenceline, we came upon a large (~1.5m) Bothrops asper (10.18321°N, 84.51550°W [+/-10m], 1172m elev.), which we decided not to collect. At back to the guard house around 23:15. It rained lightly or not at all during most of our hike, despite having rained during the day. Near the guard house, Luis found an armadillo, which I saw- my first ever. June 13 We spent the morning identifying specimens and taking photos. On the afternoon, Fredi took us on a hike to GPS [illegible] several specimens he had collected for us. We got a Rhodinia decerata on the trail on the south fenceline, and another on trail #4 going from the south to the north boundaries. It rained intermittently as we walked; it had rained all morning as well.
