into, Dean 2010 Journal June 10 Reserve Nectandra, San Ramon, Alajuela, Costa Rica Flew from Mexico to San Jose last night; spent night in San Ramon where I met Tom + Susan. This morning, David + Evelyn Tennette picked us up and brought us to their reserve, Nectandra, ~14.5 km N of San Ramon. We spent a while getting set up, then walked a trail along the edge of the property from 14:15-16:00, beginning in somewhat disturbed forest and ending in secondary forest and pasture. Found 1 Ixora warburgwitschii under leaf litter. Searched with lights near the building by the reserve gate starting at 18:15 and got another Ranat, 1 Bristlemouth (R) calling from ~2m off the ground, 4 Craugastor/ Eleutherodactylus, several of which were emerging from bromeliads on the ground, a Hyliid (Sariix ?) on a rock next to the road, and an Espadran pressed upon near the pond. It had rained fairly lightly in the afternoon, and many centrolenids and Craugastor - type frogs could be heard calling, especially near the pond and streams. We also got 2 Andes in this area. We continued on to Trail A, where we got a large and a small Craugastor, plus a Wilson annulatus that was ~2.5m off the ground in a tree. We walked to the reception building and Susan saw what may have been a gecko; got an Andes on the ground, and another Hyliid (Sariix) calling from a brush nearby at the midway. On the way back to the reserve entrance, I found a Sachatania ilex in a leaf ~1m off the ground. We heard at least 1 hyliid calling along streams but never found it. Stopped searching at 21:15!
