Jan, Jan 2010 journal San Jose Marcel, Depto Huchuetanango, Guatemala (cont) Jan. 23 ... B. hartwegi; 2 were under boards laying on sawdust and the other 4 were under the bark of boards. We also got a big Bradytrita silus under a board. After dinner, we searched along a stream on the N side of town from 19:45-20:45, Electrolyte just could be heard calling along the stream; we caught 5 and collected 3. I walked along a side trail above the stream and got a B. ruferosens on a log; also saw an opossum in a tree. I found a tiny Brangster along the road but didn't collect it. The day was mild with no clouds, and the night was clear and cool. They told us the last big rain here was 2 weeks ago. San Jose Marcel, Depto Huchuetanango, Guatemala Jan. 24 We got started at 08:45 this morning with 2 quetz and returned to the site where we got the Bradytrita yesterday, after getting only 1 small green in a pitfall trap along the stream. We searched in more all wood from 10:15-11:45 and got 5 B. hartwegi and a Splenornorphus, all under boards. After searching for another site and eating lunch, we searched for another 10 min in logs on a nearby trail and I got another B. hartwegi. We drove to a road junction 3.8 km S of San Jose Marcel and opened 10 bromeliads in a corn field and on the edge of a forest - Carlos got 1 B. cucummatana in a big bromeliad. We opened another 6-7 bromeliads in a forest but got nothing. We drove up the other road at the junction, toward Yulhuitz Grande, but the road ended at a spot overlooking Yulhuitz Grande. We opened 3 small bromeliads along the road in a disturbed area of forest and got a small B. ruferosens.
