roots, Sean 2007 Journal San Joaquin, Capar, Depto. Capar, Honduras (cont.) Aug. 26 We were trying to reach a B. coranti locality at Quebrada Grande, which turned out to be a 2hr horse ride from San Joaquin, instead of going there, the 3 of us and a local man, Julian, went up to the municipal forest just above town. Although most of the forest is secondary, it is fairly nice, and a number of big, original trees still remain. We spent bromeliads and a few logs from 12:00-15:00. Sometime around 13:30, Reinaldo left us and went down for lunch. Each of us got a B. coranti in a bromeliad between ~14:00-14:30, all in a small area with abundant bromeliads. Julian says there is another nice forest at the same elevation (~1600m) on harris walk from Las Margaritas, somewhere in the area. On the drive back to Buena Vista, we we stopped by a man and a bunch of kids who had heard we wanted salamanders and brought us 6 B. rufescens; word travels fast here. The man who had gone to search in Buena Vista hadn't returned yet, so we decided to come back on Tuesday morning. We drove back to Capar Ruinas and spent the evening preparing specimens.
