Frosto, Dear 2006 Journal Area east of Eagle Lake, Lassen Co., CA (cont) June 21 couldn't move them. We drove north on Hwy 395 and turned E at Ravendale, and then drove N to Red Rock (nothing there) and W on Juniper Ridge Rd. We stopped 10.8mi E of Ferner on Juniper Ridge Rd. (JAM10) and caught [illegible] & occidentalis between 18:45 and 19:05 in a sagebrush area with scattered juniper. We caught a subadult P. caterina on the road 8.7mi E of Ferner at 19:15 (JAM11) and drove through Ferner and W on the Ferner-Brasshopper Rd. We saw about 15 pronghorn and [illegible] greater sage grouse along the road. We drove S on Hwy 39 and then on AI track to camp without finding any more herps. Brasshopper Valley and Eagle Lake, Lassen Co., CA June 22 Today Jim, Gibin, Chad, Allison Schultz and I drove N on Hwy 139 into the Brasshopper Valley. We stopped at 2 cattle ponds on the E side of the road 4.9mi S of the intersection with the Ferner- Brasshopper Rd. (JAM12). We searched from 10:45-11:15 and collected a C. constrictrix, 2 J. elegans, a P. rugilla tadpole and 2 metamorphs. Jim saw another C. constrictrix, and there were many more tadpoles. We drove N and found 2 POR C constrictrix 0.6 mi. N of the Ferner-Brasshopper Rd. intersection; we took one (JAM14). We parked just south of there and searched a steep slope with basaltic rock outcrops and sagebrush-juniper vegetation from 11:45-12:45 (JAM13: 40.91415 N, 120.74738 W [WGS84], 8macc.), 1633 m elev.
