May 26 Pine Creek, Aharnn Canyon and Spark Canyon, dry; NF, dnys Cr., CA (sat)
I got brevel swals and ventral swals (chyrid test) for all 3:
Sample # Age Sex
PC(1) 11 adult male
PC(1) 12 adult female
PC(1) 13 adult female
I also collected 7 Ielbria for Dean Schaville at the base of a cascade of the stream (37.37605°N, 118.68400°W [WGS84], 2350m elev). I walked back to my car, got a new PVC pole, walked back to the data logger and replaced the pole. I offloaded the data to the shuttle at 10:55 AM.
I drove south past Bishop, took through Hot Springs Rd. to County Rd. and then drove W on the dirt road that heads to the mountains. I stopped about halfway to the end, where the road became very rough, and walked SW to meet the dirt road to Aharnn Canyon (compass in my car). I arrived at the mouth of the canyon at 2:10PM and found my data logger in place; I offloaded the data to the shuttle. I searched along the stream/road, which was flowing, with lots of water, for about 200m up from my logger. The area was very green and the soil under rocks near the stream was wet, but it was fairly dry only a few feet away from the stream. I found no salamanders anywhere. I did not check the areas where part of the creek flowed through willows and rose, as the vegetation was too dense. I searched [illegible] for about 55 min before heading back to
