Ravits, Sean 2006 Journal Olsarcha Creek, Inyo National Forest, Inyo Co., CA May 23 Last night cl camped in the Bronson Mtns, 0.5 mi. S of Shirley Meadows Ski Area on Rancheria Rd., after leaving Berkeley in the afternoon. clt was cold and very foggy, and cl found an Ensatinia eschscholtzii platensis out on a stump amid fir and incense cedar at 11PM (air temp 47 F). cl searched under rocks and logs for another hour but found nothing else. On the morning, cl continued south along Rancheria Rd. to Evans Flat Campground, where cl hoped to see crecenter. Instead, cl found an adult female platensis under a piece of tin at the east edge of the campground amid fir and incense cedar. cl collected it (SMR92, 35.64346 N, 118.58803 W [WGS84], 11m acc., 1909m eler.) and left. cl drove towards Walker Pass and detoured N to Chimney Rock campground, where cl failed to find Batrachoseps ridgwayi. cl drove down Nine Mile Canyon Rd and up to Olsarcha. cl drove W of town, across the LA aqueduct and parked next to the creek. cl hiked west to the mouth of the canyon and attempted to ascend up the creek. The canyon walls are extremely steep and the bottom is smooth, scoured granite with the creek forming a series of cascades. cl got past the first 2 but the third was too large and steep. cl climbed up the south canyon wall towards the ridge top, slowly moving west, topping out around 6000 ft. cl passed a side canyon that
