Aug. 26 Ridge above El Pinam, Dept. San Marcos, Guatemala (cont.)
... cypress tree and found one more adult B. lincolinea. We then walked back uphill to the top of the saddle, where cl found another B. lincolnii. We searched for B on the saddle, from 14:45-15:45. cl walked a bit north and found 1 Pedipes and 1 B. lincolnii juveniles under a piece of wood on a stump. Finally, we walked down along the road and cl found one more B. morio under a rock about halfway down (14.95871°N, 91.84522°W [WGS84; 9m acc.], 2751m elev.). We returned to the hotel and spent the evening preparing specimens and taking chytrid swabs from most of the salamanders. The Wakeos and Carlos had gone to Buena Vista (~Km 263, RN1) and had found a few B. lincolnii and B. morio.
Aug. 27 Volcan Chichabal and Volcan Siete Orejas, Dept. Quetzaltenango, Guatemala
This morning we all drove south to Volcan Chichabal. Dave's car couldn't make it up the road, so he, Marvalee and Jed stayed on the main road and went to a place called Las Plumas where they had found B. franklini in the past. The rest of us drove up to the parking lot of Chichabal, which is now a protected area. We walked up to the rim of the crater and down to the laguna, which took ~40 min. The entire area of the park is covered with what looks like primary hardwood forest. We started
