Routes, Dean 2008 Journal (cont) Aug. 25 Finca Sta. Julia and Finca la Chusula, Depto. San Marcos, Guatemala Jed, Antonio and I drove to Finca la Chusula (owned by Ruben Perez) near Km. 263 on RN1. We stopped in a patch of forest near the entrance and searched for bromeliads from 1400-1520 but found nothing (14.94692°N, 91.86277°W [WGS84, 9m acc.], 2160m elev.). The forest looked good and we opened ~ 70 bromeliads, and I searched in a few logs as well. It rained while we were searching. Next, we drove towards San Marcos and stopped at Km 260.6, between Aldea Pajon and Buena Vista. We searched in the roadside for ~25 min and I found a subadult B. merio (14.93999°N, 91.84894°W [WGS84, 5m acc.], 2444m elev.) at 1620. I drove back to San Marcos, had dinner and then drove back on RN1. Jed and Carlos dropped off Antonio and I at Restaurant Divisor (14.94948°N, 91.81577°W [WGS84, 16m acc.], 2281m elev.) and then drove down to belay Finca la Chusula. Antonio and I walked down to Finca Chusula along the road checking the roadside with lights. We searched from 2050-2200 but found nothing. Conditions seemed too dry despite the recent rain and the habitat didn't look good. Jed and Carlos drove up and met us at the entrance to Finca Chusula; Carlos had found a Silpho and collected it. dunidiate
