June and'd steepest terrain on which I have trapped for woodrats. There are several houses quite evenly spaced. They appear to be unkept but some have recent sign- fairly fresh pellets. Like Mt. Palomar this high elevation area has several houses but does not seem to be currently active. Is this due to this year's harsh winter? Or is there continued "blinking" out of these marginal population? How and when will recolonization occur? It will be interesting to visit these areas in the future. Indeed, we only caught two females, one pregnant, the other was paras. Are these "hangers-on"? Or founders? Back to Hastings for demographic data.
