1998 W.D. Matocz Journal 10.5 miles NE of Arroyo Grande on HWY 101 Elev. 520 ft. Lopez Lake Santa Lucia Mtns. San Luis Obispo. 5 June Arrived in the area about 2pm and looked for sites south of the Lopez Lake area. All was private property and there were no campgrounds so we went to the Lopez Lake Recreation Area. The ranger there was extremely helpful and even offered us a free campsite. We set traps in several areas North of the main campground off of Blackberry Trail. This trail was still quite muddy in places and the vegetation was dominated by coast live oak, gooseberry, blackberry and poison oak. Some traps were set in chaparral dominated by manzanita, sage, other mints. 6 June Traps yielded 9 animals. We 9am broke down camp and headed south on the 101.
