There are three or four localities that appear to have a high concentration of woodrat houses in this area. The dominant vegetation is coast live oak with an understory of poison oak (lots of it!) and scrub oak on the slightly drier parts of the uphill side of the road. We set out traps between 2 and 5 pm until we could no longer see well. We went shopping for food etc. at the mouth of the valley and returned to Hastings for the night. 19 December We got a total of 7 animals this morning. We spent the afternoon preparing them Hastings.
