20 August 10:00 pm 5 miles SE of Pit River Campground. Fall River Mills Shasta Co. Left Alturas today at about 12:00 noon after getting my leaking tire fixed, and re-supplying for the final leg of our trip. We headed southeast on the 299 to just North of the town of Burney. We are staying at the BLM's Pit River campground. We set traps at various locations within a mile radius of the campground. Outside of the immediate riparian area near the river, the habitat is dominated by black oak and grey pine with a Ribes and poison oak understory - even some mountain mahogany, also some Juniper & Yellow Pine. We enjoyed a great dinner of halibut. Allison's mother who was also visiting Alturas gave us the halibut that some friends had caught up near the Puget Sounds - delicious!
