previously suspected, S. of these.
26 June
♀ found dead between lines 32-36-
probably trap-killed, TC-62. Pair
S. of Voith Creek crossing in probably
nesting, but they range widely and
refuse to reveal location of the nest.
29 June
Several pairs were seen in the
village Drum area, but only one
pair there after in high, well-drained
tundra west of village.
1 July
1 pair acting nesting near
Larqs Lake between Wohl Slog and
Ukpik Sloughs. Molt is evident in
the birds now - I think more in the
♀♀.
3 July
Hatching of nests #1, 2, 3. Encountered
very vocal pair on East side of Holmes'
Morass, ca. 150 m. West of nest #3.
Saw 2 of the young - very plain,
greenish things. Went to nest #3 -
empty; then to #2 - also empty. Pair
c. 25 m. away reacted violently to
my intrusion. Nest #1 - 2 birds out of
eggs and shells removed; 1 shell
pipped; 4th egg no evidence of activity
yet. Interesting synchrony in
hatching of these contiguous pairs.
Nest #1 - first nest found - was lost
