Pluvialis dominica
26 June
these are less common than normal.
thus far we know of a 4 egg nest near the
west end of trapline IV, and this evening I
found another 4-egg nest west of the middle
section of trapline III B.
27 June
the nest by IV is empty. On retiliation
I found a 1-egg nest west of AACS, ca. 40
m. South of the fork in the gasoline. Weighed
this egg - 31g - and put a "1" on it in pencil.
The rest was attended by the 87.
Near Micro-mer at least 4 non-breeders
were found. Gave alarm note to me, but
tolerated other birds.
28 June
At midnight (0000 this day) still 1 egg
in AACS nest. At 1245 - 2 eggs. #2 weighed
27 grams - much less than #1. #2 is visibly
smaller than the first.
the eggs in the nest near III B weighed
26.3, 25.0, 27.3, 26.9 g. The incubating (♀)
bird was very concerned and came to within
2 m. of me as I weighed the eggs; I doubt
that they are very fresh.
Searches other areas between Micro-mer
and Family haqan, and I'm satisfied that there
are none there. There should be.
29 June
Gasoline Junction west: at 10:45 and 1345 -
still 2 eggs. At 1720 - 3 eggs; #3 weighed 26g.
