16 May
At 5:00 A.M. saw a pair (obviously ♂+♀)
on Dryes fell-field plateau SW of camp,
overlooking Cripple Creek. Birds were
closely associated - ♂ (possibly both?) giving
alarm calls. Remained ca. 5 minutes, feeding,
then flew North and out of sight.
at ca. 9:00 A.M. flock of 5 (6?) in
tight formation flew N-S over ridge and
disappeared. Birds were flying rapidly and
close to the ground.

Saw 3 birds feeding on the hill N. of
camp ca. 2:00 P.M. All were in very good
plumage and looked like ♂♂. Suddenly
took off noisily and flew in a large circle
around area, then returned to near
former area.
18 May
Saw a bird in full display over
Eagle Summit. Also saw tight groups of 6 and
9 fly rapidly over.
Same thing in the afternoon - 1 bird in
full display, a loose flock dispersed over
hillside East of Mastodon fork, and tight
migrating flocks.
19 May
More of the same - territorial pairs with
displaying males, but still many migratory flocks
of 7-9 or so.

following yesterday's snowstorm. Saw but
