Maclenn 1967 Stercorarius pomarinus 5 June Saw roving bands over most of the exposed ground. Tom Cade reports that this is about the first day they've been around. As usual, they arrive synchronously. 8 June Many birds in the area and they are beginning to act territorial. Saw one encounter clearly, and heard other territorial calling. Saw 1 copulation attempt by S. end of Beach Ridge. 9 June Birds are frequent and territorial along W. Beach Ridge. Much sitting and loafing. Karl and I saw a pair annoying a pair of snowy owls W. of Micro-Met. 10 June About the same in Gasline Area W of Micro-Met. More in Voth Area - many birds - some hunting, but mostly just sitting. 12 June Little change - many territorial birds around. Saw a flock of at least 10 birds - 1 v. dark melanistic - just sitting quietly on Village Ridge.
