Maclea 1965 Stercorarius pomarinus 26 May Snowen arrival - ca. 50 birds seen, either sitting quietly on snow or exposed funara or flying over funara. Do not appear to be pairs, although there is some association into twos. No interaction with owls or intraspecific conflict seen. 28 May Appear to be more common and are definitely dispersing, although no terretorial conflict seen yet. Birds mostly just sit - either on snow or on exposed mounds. 30 May Terretorial encounters seen for first time. Birds are pairing off, and both birds of pair seem to take an active part in setting up territories. 5 June Seem to be on territories, sitting fairly quietly.
