Tryngites subruficollis
26 May
Saw 1 lone bird, then 1 in a
mixed flock with 2 pectards and 2 bairds,
then a flock of 5 near 2 bairds - all
on dry, upland ridge tundra. The
group of 5 was on very dry, sparsely
vegetated tundra in a high saddle. Saw
these very close.
28 May
Several sightings again today. I saw
a lone bird, then a group of 3, then 2. One
of the 2 was waving its wing at the other
approx. 1 m. away. Not an intensive display.
The ptarmigan counters saw at least 2 in the
Porcupine Dome area.

a lone bird sleeping on highest part of Bideh
Ridge, just east of the crossing.
