Tryngites subruficollis
13 August
Found an immature (light underpart)
feeding on dry North slope of Gasline
Ridge. Bird was first seen near the
mound at the West end of the ridge.
Worked SE along ridge in consistently
dry habitat, pecking in plover-like
manner. Called Niko (via Tom) and
he also saw the bird - we both followed
it for ca. 250 m, then left.
15 August
Saw a lone bird on dry South
slope of Wohlslag Slough, just East
of crossing. Watched it feed, then
collected it. Stomach full of upland
type things - mainly Tenthredinid
larvae.
