Pluvialis dominica
8 June
Birds were well scattered, but
frequent, generally. Mostly paired -
pairs W. gasoline, S end of P's plot,
N end of plot... Displaying over W.
gasoline Pair - no reaction from the others.
9 June
Watched a pair on Beach Ridge
WE of Micro Meter - stood quietly with
some feeding, but no reproductive activity.
12 June
Pairs are still spread out;
Display not infrequent. Saw a bird on
Village Ridge chase away a ♀ Pectoral -
chased it about 40 feet
13 June
Birds are approaching 'normal'
density - occupying new territory as it
is exposed. Birds do not appear to be
incubating yet.
18 June
Area East of Footprint Lake - birds
are still quite active and do not
appear to be incubating. Much display,
and careful watch of territorial
boundaries. Any trespass → instant
chase, followed by Display. Saw 1
'ass-up' which led to copulation.
Unsettled birds were causing disruption -
could they be just arriving?! On the
way in collected one bird that appears
to be the odd bird interacting with
a pair. Turned out to be a ♂ W/ 15mm
