Calioris alpina
2 June
According to DWN there were quite
a few birds of both sexes in the area
on this date. He collected 4 near the
gaswell. These are now SN 1010 - 1013.
4 June
Only a few birds in Britton's
Area. The rest of the tunora is 99+% snow covered, and no birds to be seen.
6 June
Saw 2 birds flying over Holmes'
Marass. The only others were on
Britton's area - a flock of ca. 20.
I first saw two birds apart from
the others. Collected 1 of these - SN
1015 - and found it to be banded on
right leg: blue /73-179206. Later
collected 2 birds from the flock -
SN 1014, 1016 - and one of these was
banded on left leg: white /73-179204.
Both of these were banded on this
area by Soikkeli; last season (banded
as breeding adults).
Note in specimen catalog: of
the 2 June birds, 2 are short

Of the 6 June birds, 2 are long
billed, presumed ♀, but < 60g,
indicates that her condition has
deteriorated markedly under the bad
conditions, although the sample size
